St Patrick?s Mental Health Services (SPMHS) is committed to
advocating for human rights-based approaches to mental healthcare, and
on a national level, we advocate for a society in which the rights of
those experiencing mental health difficulties are protected and the
stigma attached to mental health difficulties is eradicated.

The last five years saw the significant expansion of our advocacy
remit, and significant progress has been made in achieving our
_Advocacy Strategy_ _**Apply on the website**_ objectives, which are
fundamentally aligned with European and international child and adult
mental health advocacy goals, and which are committed to ensuring that
SPMHS as an organisation is responsive to emerging issues.

We are seeking an Advocacy Manager (maternity cover) to finalise and
commence implementation of a new five-year advocacy strategy, and to
support the ongoing development of a dedicated Advocacy Centre, which
will act as a coordinating body to promote greater understanding of
mental health difficulties in Ireland and beyond, and to advance the
rights of those affected by them to be treated with dignity, respect
and without discrimination.

The successful applicant will have:

* A third-level qualification in a relevant discipline
* A minimum of five years? experience of influencing government or
institution policy and practice, and/or working to affect change and
reform related to the health sector through campaigning, advocacy
and/or policy development
* Knowledge and understanding of mental health difficulties and
related challenges
* A professional, positive and confident approach
* Understanding of the mission of SPMHS to provide the highest
quality mental healthcare, to promote mental wellbeing and mental
health awareness, and to advocate for the rights of those experiencing
mental health difficulties
* A high degree of strategic thinking, decision-making, and tactical
skills to work towards achieving advocacy objectives, developing and
implementing strategy activities, and making recommendations to
address pertinent and emerging issues
